Rafidain Bank Director Confirms: Salary Payments for “Qi Card” Holders Continue… Reports of a Suspension Are Untrue

The Director General of Al-Rafidain Bank, Dr. Ali Karim Hussein, confirmed that the salary payment system for the bank’s cardholders is operating normally, with no interruption to salary disbursements or cash withdrawals.
The clarification comes amid social media posts claiming that salary payments for the bank’s cardholders had been suspended. However, follow-up conducted by our field monitoring team showed that the cards are functioning normally and that withdrawal operations continue, confirming that the circulating claims do not reflect the actual state of banking services on the ground.
This is particularly important given that Al-Rafidain Bank has repeatedly announced the continuation of salary and entitlement payments through electronic payment instruments and cards.
The latest wave of inaccurate reports appears to be part of misleading campaigns and attempts to undermine confidence in the banking sector—campaigns that serve neither citizens nor Iraq’s financial system. Claims about suspended salaries directly affect a large segment of employees and retirees and can create unnecessary anxiety.
For this reason, it is important to verify such claims through official sources and avoid being drawn into anonymous or unverified social media posts.
Competition among banks and payment companies in Iraq should be based on service quality, innovation, and the development of financial products and electronic payment solutions, rather than by casting doubt on existing services or circulating unverified information.
It is hoped that such campaigns will not be repeated and that competition within Iraq’s banking sector will be built on innovation, trust, and customer service—not misinformation and rumors.
