Iraq Discusses Draft 2027 Federal Budget with Kurdistan Regional Government
Iraq’s Federal Ministry of Planning held discussions with a delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on the draft 2027 Federal General Budget Law.
The talks focused on the foundations for preparing the budget, coordinating financial data between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region, and addressing shared economic issues.
The discussions are part of early preparations for the 2027 budget, allowing government authorities to review revenue and expenditure estimates as well as investment requirements before the draft law is submitted to the Iraqi Parliament.
On the same day, the Ministry also held meetings related to the Integrated Energy Strategy, as part of government efforts to strengthen financial and economic planning and align public spending with development priorities and the needs of the energy sector.
Coordination between Baghdad and Erbil remains a key factor in the preparation of Iraq’s federal budget, given its connection to oil revenues, operating expenditures, public-sector salaries, and investment spending.
